Notes from Schylie La Belle . . . Contestants--prepare for baking! Thank you for you interest in my Pie Baking Contest Fundraiser! Pies do NOT need to be perfect. You do NOT have to be a pastry pro. This is simply a fun (and tasty!) fundraiser for my missions trip. Please consider signing up--contestants are free! Please sign up to bake one kind of the pies below or add your favorite pie recipe. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME! Instead, just write 'Taken' in the name slot and do not add your phone number or any other details. If you are making a pie not listed, put the name/type of the pie as well as 'Taken.' Rules: you MUST bake 2 identical pies of the pie you sign up for. One will be used for tasting and one will be given as a prize. Pies can be cold, room temperature, or hot. You may use your own pie pan for 1 pie, but the second pie must be in a disposable pan (or one you don't need returned). You can make the crust from scratch or use a premade crust. Please cover your pies with foil or plastic wrap and write the type/name of the pies in permanent marker on the pies. Please arrive with your pies at least 10 minutes before the event begins. Bring your pies to the church kitchen and place them on the counter or in the fridge. Then go into the foyer where the event will take place. Volunteers will carry your pies out to the foyer to maintain anonymity. The guests and contestants will be the judges. We will vote on the best double crust pie, and the best single crust pie. Then we will do a silent auction for the remaining pies. Sign up by September 29th!! Contestants have free admission, but guests are $5 per person paid in advance by cash, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or ApplePay to Schylie--invite your family and friends! Guests must pay by September 29.
