When we think about taking a meal to others, we think about celebrating a new baby, providing after a surgery, or comforting after a loss. We think about careful planning. We think about 8x8 or 9x13 foil pans. We think about main dishes, side dishes, and desserts.
There is certainly a place for that (in fact, we created this website for that purpose!) but it doesn't always have to be so complicated.
A friend of the site shared an easy idea that we absolutely love. Every night she saves one portion of her family dinner and freezes it for her disabled neighbor.
What a simple and thoughtful idea! Just think of it as setting an extra place or two at your table. It doesn't have to be for a specific occasion. Maybe your friend from work has a particularly busy week. Maybe the couple across the street is getting ready to welcome home their college-age son or daughter. Maybe the single man in your neighborhood or widow in your church could use a home cooked meal.
 We love these freezer and microwave safe single serving containers from Walmart. They are a perfect choice for smaller portions. You can also get them with compartments to keep components of the meal separate.
Knowing and responding to the needs of our neighbors and friends has become more important than ever over this past year. We hope this simple suggestion allows you to move toward others in love.
