An Update for the New Year

An Update for the New Year
Right before I sat down to write this update for you, I viewed a meal schedule for a homeless shelter in Gainesville, GA. The volunteers coordinating the schedule provide meals 365 days a year for anyone in their community who needs a meal. At the same time, an email was waiting for me from a woman who had recently taken a meal to her single neighbor.
I've expressed this before, but it's inspiring to have a front row seat to all of the nourishing goodness you faithfully take to others. Living through a pandemic did not stop you from caring for your friends with meals in 2020 and your generosity continued in 2021.
When taking or sending meals, here were the favorites of 2021:
Favorite Main Dish Recipe: Crock Pot Balsamic Chicken Thighs
Favorite Side Dish Recipe: Pretty, Yummy Fruit Salad
Favorite Dessert Recipe: Apple Pie Cupcakes
Favorite Potluck Recipe: Crock Pot Mac and Cheese
Favorite Meal to Send: Honey Lemon Chicken
Our signature You Are Loved spoons continue to be a favorite. So much so that we plan to offer them later this year in the serving size so many of you have requested.
This year, I'll be introducing you to some of our "celebrity meal takers" as they share their favorite meal to take to a friend and well as favorite meals they have received. While I am fortunate to see and hear from so many of you, I want to better connect you with each other. That way, you can share your ideas and successes when taking meals. We have so much to learn from each other!
I'll continue to share meal taking ideas on Facebook and Instagram (#takethemameal) in addition to this weekly blog post.
We want to hear from you! Post your best meal taking tip or a photo of a meal you like to take to friends. We don't want great ideas like this one (using foil to separate foods you are transporting) to stay a secret!
Happy New Year, friend! I look forward to connecting more in 2022!
