The Friendship Behind TakeThemAMeal.com DECEMBER 4, 2018 / ADINA BAILEY / 
Knowing I was going through a difficult time, she called to see if she could bring us dinner. I opened the door and she was on my porch with a foil covered casserole dish and the three most beautiful pink roses I had ever seen.
Long after the meal was gone, the pink roses were a daily reminder of my precious friend and her care for me. She had not experienced my specific heartache, but she reached out to me during a very sad time.
The person who showed her love for me with baked spaghetti and three pink roses is my friend, Rachel.
Years later, when the voice on the other end of the late night call told me Rachel was in need, we rushed to help. Over the next few days, it became apparent that Rachel and her young family would need meals for an extended period of time.
Each offer to help reminded me of how well Rachel cared for others. Now it was her turn to receive and TakeThemAMeal.com was born. I needed a way to organize all of the offers to help her family. In 2007, Scott Rogers assisted me in putting my meal scheduling process online (and made it even better than I imagined) making a way for others in need to use the site as well
After a few years, the users of our site began to request a way to ship meals to friends. First we added soup meals, and then more traditional entrees always keeping in mind that we wanted the meals to use high quality ingredients for the health of the recipients. Recently, we added: new meals (and there are more to come) in custom boxes, larger meals serving 5-6, your choice of dessert, and a gift card option.
Fast forward to today, and thousands of people are receiving meals from friends, family members, co-workers, and neighbors every day. This map provides an inspiring view of all of the love that is being delivered from your kitchens and our store... and it all started with a single friendship.
