Top 10 Freezer Meals to Take to Others
We often think that taking a meal to a person in need has to be fresh, hot, and delivered right at dinnertime. But, that isn't always feasible. Maybe the recipient doesn't know when he/she will be home or feeling hungry. Or, maybe you don't have time to pull off a fresh meal and drop it off. The good news is that a frozen meal can warm the heart just as much as a hot one!
Making and freezing meals ahead of time in bulk is a great way to save time in the kitchen and always have food on hand to share with others. Plus, you can double a meal and have one for your own family, too. (In fact, we created our 1 Hour Freezer Prep sessions with this idea in mind, so you can knock out 6 freezer meals in just 1 hour!)
After 14 years of freezer meal cooking and testing for our two freezer meal cookbooks, our website, and my own family, I've found that the 10 recipes below work great to freeze and give away. They are well-tested, easy to prepare, delicious, and family-friendly.
I assure you, whoever receives one of these freezer meals will be blessed by your effort and thoughtfulness!

The ultimate comfort casserole! I'd suggest dividing this HUGE casserole into two 8x8 inch dishes, so you can take one to a friend and serve the other to your family. Cover and freeze before baking. You could also freeze a baguette or dinner rolls alongside the dish to complete the meal.
All ages love this simple and tasty recipe! Make the filling in the slow cooker or in the Instant Pot. Roll the taquitos and freeze before baking. One advantage of this recipe is that you can take out however many you need at a time and bake them directly from frozen. You may want to deliver a jar of salsa and a bag of tortilla chips as a side that will keep in the pantry.

I make this soup for my own family at least twice a month. It's full of flavor and veggies! Include a bag of shredded Parmesan cheese and a bag of croutons for garnish, plus a frozen baguette or dinner rolls to serve as a side. If making this for an individual, consider packaging it in individual servings in mason jars or small freezer containers. Be sure to leave 1 inch of head space at the top when freezing to allow for expansion.
Everybody loves a good meatball! And this recipe has been a staple in our home for a decade. Bake, cool, and freeze these in marinara sauce (my favorite is Newman's Own Marinara). Deliver this meal along with either a box of spaghetti or with hoagie rolls and Provolone cheese for meatball subs.
Kids love these mini sammies with a savory-sweet glaze! So easy to make and freeze.

One of our family's all time favorite meals! If you have time, I'd suggest cooking and shredding the meat completely and then freezing it in the au jus that's leftover in the slow cooker or the Instant Pot. That way your recipient just has to warm it up. Freeze along with ciabatta rolls and a package of Provolone cheese to create a meal kit.
Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. These individually packaged breakfast burritos go directly from freezer to oven!
This recipe was actually featured in People Magazine in March 2020 and is a reader favorite! Packed with fresh, light ingredients, this soup works year round. If making this for an individual, consider packaging it in individual servings in mason jars or small freezer containers. Be sure to leave 1 inch of head space at the top when freezing to allow for expansion.

A winner dinner! This versatile, nutritious meal kit allows people to individualize what they want in their bowl. Soooo delicious
I've packaged up smoothie packs many times over the years for new moms and those who are sick. People love receiving these! It's a delicious and fast way to get extra nutrition for breakfast, snack, or lunch. We've developed 7 delicious smoothie recipes to make ahead and freeze. Just add liquid to the blender, dump in your pack ingredients, and blend.
If you know someone who is undergoing treatment for cancer (or battling any illness), this soup is full of immune-boosting ingredients and packed with flavor. Originally created for my friend, Darcie, who was diagnosed in her 30's with breast cancer, this recipe continues to be used by people around the world to bless cancer warriors. If making this for an individual, consider packaging it in individual servings in mason jars or small freezer containers. Be sure to leave 1 inch of head space at the top when freezing to allow for expansion.
