Notes from NIcole Fellman . . . We're blessed at Gateway Church with the opportunity to provide the means necessary to offer a full Thanksgiving Dinner for the residents at BridgeWay House who can not be with their family and friends during this holiday. BridgeWay House is an organization that offers a supportive environment for those recovering from addiction. Their mission is to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere that empowers those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction to successfully recover. We will be serving approximately 40 men. Dinner will be served at noon. Please drop off hot dishes by 11:30 am at BridgeWay. If delivering the dishes to BridgeWay creates a problem for you, let me know if dropping them off at my home in Parkesburg makes your process easier, we can arrange for that. Please bring dishes hot and in disposable containers, so the residents can have left overs. BridgeWay has two ovens that we are able to use to keep the dishes hot in preparation for dinner. Please note: Because BridgeWay House is a residential recovery facility, I'm asking all volunteers be adults. We love and appreciate the enthusiasm of our younger helpers, but this particular volunteer opportunity is for adults only. Bill Rau has volunteered to smoke the turkeys again this year. If you would like to purchase one of the turkeys, please reach out and I can help coordinate. If you have any questions please let me know! A few local grocery stores were able to make donations. Walmart and Weis both donated $50 gift card. I'll purchase the paper products needed with those and anything else we may need. Dutchway is donating 40 dinner rolls and 6 pumpkin pies. We are grateful for their support! If you'd like to donate, but don't want to cook or can't volunteer that day, gift cards are welcome and can be used to purchase turkeys, drinks, etc. Thank you! |
